The Eighth Wonder of the World, the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and its terracotta army pits. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, it is one of China's most iconic cultural treasures. Over 500 million visitors tour the site annually.

Attraction Introduction

The Terracotta Army Museum in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, is a burial pit of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and is hailed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." The terracotta warriors were accidentally discovered by local farmers drilling a well in 1974, followed by large-scale archaeological excavations.

The three discovered pit complexes cover a total area of over 2 square meters and have yielded more than 8000 terracotta warriors and horses. Pit No. 1 features an infantry formation with grand scale; Pit No. 2 showcases a mixed-arms formation with intricate layout; and Pit No. 3 served as the command center, the smallest in size but most significant in function. Each terracotta figure has a unique facial expression and appears lifelike, reflecting the advanced sculpting techniques and military organization of the Qin Dynasty.
